Vaccinations

Protect your pet with reliable vaccinations

Vaccinations are of paramount importance for the good health of your pet.
At Castle Veterinary Group, our aim is to make sure your pet is vaccinated
at an early age and regularly throughout its adult life.
You can bring your pet to our centre at Castlewellan and Downpatrick.
Our veterinary surgeon can suggest a programme of vaccinations
to fit in with your pet's particular needs and local disease pattern.

Vaccinations for your canine friend

Vaccinations are important for the health of your dog. It can prevent from the four major infections affecting it.

  • Parvovirus
  • Distemper
  • Hepatitis
  • Leptospirosis
  • Canine Parainfluenza
  • Rabies Vaccination and the Pets Travel Scheme (PETS)

Some vaccines can be suggested by our veterinarians based on the specific risks to your dog. Get the right vaccination for your dog so that it remains happy and healthy. In addition to the primary vaccination, which is administered in the first few weeks, your dog needs re-vaccination every year to stimulate their immune response.

Rabbit vaccinations

  • Myxomatosis causes death in rabbits and is spread by blood sucking insects such as rabbit flea. This disease can be controlled by insect control and vaccination.
  • Viral haemorrhagic disease can be rapidly fatal in an unvaccinated rabbit. The only protection for your rabbit is through vaccination.

Regular booster vaccinations are required for dogs, cats and rabbits. Please remember for the PETS scheme you must make sure that your pet is given its booster on time, otherwise it will not meet the conditions of the scheme and would have to be vaccinated and blood tested again. It would have to wait another six months before being able to enter the UK. Get in touch for reliable pet vaccinations.
